We are very fortunate to have a pediatrician that listens. He was there where my son was born, and he knew the medical history of my son’s birthmother in much more detail than I have ever been able to find out. He was the first one who recommended getting an FASD diagnosis. He also makes recommendations, listens and is very helpful when we need support. Having met with many professionals, I realize we are super lucky and recommend looking around for someone that gets it or, even if they don’t know, and are willing to listen to parents as the key source of information and not ignore their concerns. This is one support that has been key to helping in our journey.
